Building a medical marijuana dispensary will be a major priority for the company that will build the building.
The building, the company said, will have space for up to 2,000 patients and their caregivers, and will serve as the “primary medical marijuana facility” in the city.
“We are looking forward to partnering with our neighbors and partners to make this a success, which will allow us to be the first in the region to offer a dispensary to patients in a central location,” said Rob Braga, CEO of VicTech, a company based in Toronto.
VicTech said it expects to be able to complete the project by the end of 2018.
The company said it is also working on a second dispensary, but the second location will likely be built outside the city and outside of the commercial space.
The company, which also has a medical cannabis license in California, said it has already received $1.3 million from the city of Richmond to help pay for construction and environmental permitting.
